Our tile specialists

Tile work you can measure with a level.

Tile is the most visible part of a bathroom and the part most commonly installed poorly. Crooked grout lines, lippage you can feel with a bare foot, cracked cuts at the niche, visible cut edges because nobody used edge profiles. We've fixed hundreds of these.

Our tile specialists dry-fit every shower and major floor before any thinset comes out. They mix lot numbers to avoid color banding. They set tile with a 1/3 offset on large format (not 50%, which creates lippage). They use Schluter-Jolly or Schluter-Reno profiles instead of bullnose so cut edges stay crisp and cool.

We run lippage-control systems on large format. We seal grout after cure. We back-butter every tile on full-height walls. These are basic-professional practices that separate a real tile install from a general-contractor 'tile day'.

What's included

Every tile installation project includes:

  • Substrate prep: Ditra on floors, Kerdi on showers
  • Tile layout + dry-fit (minimum 24 hours before set)
  • Lot mixing to avoid color banding
  • 1/3 offset on large-format (code-compliant)
  • Back-butter on full-height walls
  • Lippage control system on large format
  • Schluter-Jolly or Schluter-Reno edge profiles
  • Mitered corners where design calls for
  • Sanded or unsanded grout as appropriate
  • Grout seal after 72-hour cure
  • Silicone at all change-of-plane joints
  • Final cleaning and polishing

Our Process

How the project actually runs.

No mystery. No surprise delays. Here's the exact sequence.

01

Selection

We help you pick: large format, mosaic, herringbone, subway, natural stone. Lot availability, lead times, order padding for cuts.

02

Substrate

Schluter Ditra on floors, Kerdi on wet walls. No tile over drywall, no tile over unstable substrate.

03

Dry-fit

24–48 hour dry-fit of all walls and floors. Cuts dialed in, niches centered on tile grid, not butchered.

04

Set + grout

Tile set in small batches with lot-mixing. Grout after 24 hours. Seal after 72 hours. Silicone at change-of-plane joints.

Materials We Trust

The brands and systems we spec.

We only install systems we can stand behind for twenty years. No brand bait-and-switch mid-job.

Premium bathroom materials

Daltile, Marazzi, Florida Tile, MSI

Porcelain mainstays with consistent lot production. Large format (12x24, 24x24, 24x48) is our usual first recommendation.

Natural stone: marble, limestone, travertine

Calacatta, Carrara, Statuario. We seal twice before grouting and educate homeowners on long-term care. Stone is beautiful, and it demands attention.

Schluter-Jolly + Schluter-Reno-U profiles

Aluminum or anodized edge profiles at tile terminations. Square, crisp, finished — not bullnose.

Lippage control systems

Leveling clips and wedges on large format to keep tile plane dead flat. No 'I can feel the edge with my foot' installs.

Mapei or Laticrete thinset + grout

Unmodified for Kerdi, modified for standard tile. We use the right product for the substrate — critical for warranty.

Worth knowing first

Things most contractors won't tell you.

Large-format tile needs a flat substrate

24x48 porcelain on a wavy floor is a lippage nightmare. We flatten substrates before tile — sometimes with self-leveler, sometimes with shims under Ditra. This is a full extra day on some jobs and it's worth it.

Herringbone eats tile — order 20% extra

Herringbone layouts waste tile at every cut. We quote 20% material overage (not 10%). Having enough tile to finish without a lot-change is non-negotiable.

Natural stone seals twice before grout

Grout stains porous stone. We pre-seal before grouting, then grout, then final-seal. Skipping the pre-seal guarantees a haze you can't scrub off.

Niches on the tile grid

A niche should center inside tile modules, not cut at random heights. This is design work, not field-improv. We lay it out in advance.

Questions

Most-asked about tile installation.

Yes, but we won't warranty the tile itself (defects, dye lots, calibration). We'll warranty the install. Most clients let us source through our supplier accounts — better pricing and we own the supply chain.

50% offset on large format creates lippage at the center — the long-format industry standard is 33% offset or less. We follow the TCNA standard.

Yes. We install marble, limestone, travertine, and quartzite. We seal twice, grout carefully, and teach you how to maintain it long term.

A full shower tile + bathroom floor is typically 4–6 days. Add 3 days for grout cure and final polish.
