Shower-only projects
If your shower pan is leaking, the grout is crumbling, or the tile is dated — but the rest of your bathroom is fine — you don't need to gut the whole room. We do shower-only renovations regularly on Long Island.
It's a contained, 10–14 day project. Demo the existing shower to the studs, inspect framing, rebuild the pan with Schluter Kerdi-Shower-ST or a custom mud pan, waterproof the walls with Kerdi sheet or Kerdi-Board, install new valves, tile to the ceiling, and hang a new frameless glass enclosure.
Most of the shower renovations we do on Long Island are 20–30 year old fiberglass surrounds that failed at the pan-to-wall joint, or 1990s cultured-marble jobs that finally cracked. Both are past fixing. A proper rebuild is the right call.

What's included
Our Process
No mystery. No surprise delays. Here's the exact sequence.
We walk the shower, identify the failure mode, talk about tile and fixture swaps, quote firmly.
Strip to studs. Inspect and repair framing rot. Add valve blocking. Drain cleanout.
Schluter pan, Kerdi walls. Tile layout, dry-fit, install, grout. Sealed and cured.
Glass measured and installed on cured tile. Fixture trim, final leak test, caulk.
Worth knowing first
Grout is the wear layer. The real waterproofing sits behind the tile, behind the backerboard. Regrouting a failing shower is a cosmetic fix on a structural problem. We always pull the tile and rebuild the waterproofing.
Shower leaks often rot the wall plate at the bottom of the stud wall. We open up the base wall on day one before quoting the framing repair. Our quote includes a realistic allowance for this.
If the drain location works for your new layout, we re-use the existing drain pipe and replace only the fitting. Saves a few hundred dollars of plumbing. If you're switching to a linear drain, we reroute.
20-year-old valves often have stuck cartridges and discontinued parts. We replace proactively during a shower reno. You don't want to open the wall again in two years.

Questions
10–14 days for build + 7–14 days for frameless glass. 3 weeks total for shower usability is typical.
Yes. Shower-only projects leave the rest of the bathroom alone. We tape off, contain dust, and work within the shower footprint.
If we're replacing the shower valve and waterproofing assembly, both Nassau and Suffolk want a permit. We pull it.
Common on older Long Island showers that have been leaking for years. Our contract includes a framing allowance. We show you the photos, explain the fix, document the cost.
